The films are “Blow out” and Be Kind Rewind”
Comparison between films: Pick two films that we watched this semester (at least one of
them has to be from after October 3rd, meaning that it has to be selected from among
Hollywood Shuffle onwards). You are to construct an argument in which you assess the two
films by focusing on a specific element that they have in common, as determined by a close
reading of a representative sequence in each film. Your paper should first set up your
argument, explain why your focus is relevant to each film, and then do a close reading to
compare the sequences. You should not try to account for everything that these films have in
common; rather, you should make a case for why youre looking at a specific element that is
relevant to each film. You should note differences as much as similarities.
